Duke NI Program

Duke's Nursing Informatics online program began in 1997 and permits nurses to complete specialized informatics education from anywhere in the world, amidst their demanding personal and professional lives. Our Duke program is built on a philosophy that expert nurses with solid clinical experience are best able to analyze, design/develop, implement, and evaluate information systems to improve nursing practice and patient care.

Courses in the Duke NI program emphasize virtual project teamwork and combine web-based content with campus sessions for team building. This rigorous curriculum is innovative in its focus on building knowledge and skills for life cycle (analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation) support of PDA, web, and database applications that support clinical practice. Coursework helps synthesize knowledge of informatics issues, theories, standards, and trends in hands-on real-world applications projects.
